Depositphotos_48718083_xsaVitamin B12 is a very important mineral everyone needs to have in their body on a daily basis, if you’re vitamin B deficient, you will eventually start having issues with your health.

Many people in this country today, may not realize why vitamin B12 supplementation is so important, to get the message across better, we need to map out a few examples of how it can come back to haunt them in the long-run.

Vitamin B12: Why It Gets Blocked:

It can range from a multitude of issues such as the person’s state of health, are they diabetic, do they have a history of health problems such as heart disease, or for females who take birth control pills may not be aware of the fact that vitamin B12 can be blocked (lack of absorption in the body) when taking birth control products.

The sad truth is that B12 can easily get blocked (especially if you’re eating harmful non-nutritious foods, junk foods, even Trans fatty foods) depriving our bodies from getting the recommended amounts of it.

Another secret that many of you probably didn’t know, is that many cereal types are sprayed with chemicals containing B12, yea I figured that one would blow your mind wide open right? LOL.

Vegetarians are believed to be B12 deficient, however this may not be the case what-so-ever. It still depends on their dietary habits, and it also depends on where they are turning to receive a good amount of B12 supplementation toward their diet.

This is why animals’ diets are widely overlooked by the average everyday individual, people should take the time to notice how animals are receiving a high amount of B12 in their diet everyday. This obvious solution sits right in front of your face each day of your life, yet it goes unnoticed.

Sounds nuts but if you ever seen how a cow devours pay loads of grass when it’s outside on a farm plantation, then you basically get what I’m saying.

We’re no different from animals when it comes to getting an abundant source of it. Without vitamin B12, your body will literally starve from high levels of deficiency.

  5. Lean cured ham – will provide your body with just over a half of 1 microgram of Vitamin B12, or about 9% of the daily recommended (for adults *amount).
  6. Sardines packed in oil (totaling 3.75 ounces) contains 8.22 micrograms of Vitamin B12.
  7. Emu steaks are lean steak meat, a 3 oz (ounce) portion of emu steak will give you almost eight micrograms of Vitamin B12. You can get a full abundance of B12 from them.
  8. Clams – are filled with chromium (essential in regulating cholesterol levels), iron (a mineral that lets your body produce hemoglobin), and B vitamins.
  9. Mozzarella Cheese to your sandwich or salad, will give you quite a bit of protein, calcium, and Vitamins A, D, E, not to mention B12 to your diet. 1 slice of mozzarella cheese, or a serving size of 1 oz (ounce), contributes 0.65 micrograms of Vitamin B12.
  10. Eggs provide your body with riboflavin, folate, Vitamin D, protein, and Vitamin B12.
  11. Liver did you know that 100-grams of liver will provide 800% of vitamin B12 nutritional value, you can also include 1000% of the recommended daily value of Vitamin A with that as well.
  12. Fortified Soymilk 1 serving (100 grams) of fortified soymilk brings 19% of the daily recommended amount of B12, it also possesses high nutritional value of both vitamins A and D.
  13. Gjetost cheese which comes from Norway and is made using goat milk, goes by many names. However you refer to it, it’ll always be an excellent source of Vitamin B12. 1 package of gjetost cheese (or about eight ounces).
  14. Oysters (not to be confused with clams) possess a strong source of Vitamin B12, 1 serving size of 3 ounces provides 29.77 micrograms.
  15. Mussels -are a type of shellfish. To some, mussels are an acquired taste, but if you are able to eat them regularly, you’ll find that they’re rich with nutrients and vitamins, including B12. (3 ounces), 20.4 micrograms of Vitamin B12 is an ideal amount for optimal B12 absorption.
  16. Caviar – is good for the immune system as it’s rich in Vitamins A, C, and E, and it’s also packed with zinc, iron, and Vitamin B12.

IMG_0001[1]A lot of things that people know about blood pressure is at a minimum, the reason for this would be the time that we live in now. The world is a very busy place then it was back then, technology has taken over so much of our lives that people fail to realize other things that could be just as important and this is where your blood pressure comes in at.

So what are the first things that comes to mind when you think about blood pressure, well going to tell you now which shouldn’t be a big surprise to you and billions of others on this planet. Stress is a common everyday thing that involves itself in our lives whether we like it or not, and it is a dangerous thing to mix with emotions or physical activity. If you are stressed out dealing with a complicated moment in your life you will feel the tension, this can affect your nerves, your physical well-being, but most of all this can also affect your blood pressure.

Hypertension (especially during pregnancy) is the thing that many doctors will bring up when discussing the elevation of blood to their patients, and of course while the patient is paying the good doctor a visit he will bring out his trusty Stethoscope which is of course what he or she will use to check your blood by listening to your heartbeat over the course of 60 seconds (if you multiply the number of seconds times 2 you will get your heartbeat rate so 120 beats per minute would be your answer if it’s 60 seconds).

Now I’m willing to bet your bottom dollar a lot of people might not have known that when properly monitoring their blood rate, I’m equally sure are others that check their blood rate probably after a walk after dinner or after they come to the end of a jogging session. So knowing about your blood pressure is a must, and many might find this to be a shock but sometimes when you have a blood pressure checkup done by a professional like a doctor you might have to double-check behind them…

Got your mind churning right? LOL that’s the point, because some health professionals don’t practice the full protocol procedure when it comes to monitoring your heart. So that’s why I’m doing this article to give you more awareness about this subject matter, and if you have more knowledge about this particular procedure you can let the doctor know that they are only doing a 50% job effort (you’re basically policing them making sure they practice the proper blood monitoring procedures).

Blood Pressure Hike: The Cause

IMG_0002[1]Actually the term of the word in a way speaks for itself, but for further insight we need to focus on the blood vessels because they after all are the ones that help carry blood throughout your body. Now think about this the blood that flows through your veins has to do so freely, if it is restricted (prevention of blood travelling throughout the body will cause for pressure to build up). The heart does it’s job by constantly pumping blood through your arteries or a.k.a “blood vessels”, if the arteries are affected in some perversed way one example is the disease known as atherosclerosis (the hardening or arteries) from the build up of plague.

And we talked about hypertension a moment ago in this post, but you have to factor in that with atherosclerosis this is what leads a lot of people to heart failure. Your heart has to be strong when it pumps blood efficiently though the body, hypertension puts unneeded stress factors on your heart and if your arteries are already in bad shape (hardened arteries) then you could be facing serious possible complications involving your health as well your heart’s health as well.

Below will be a diagram that will state the tolerance range for your heart’s health:

  • Normal – 120 / 80
  • Prehypertension – 120 to 139 / 80 to 89
  • Stage one (HBP) – 140 to 159 / 90 to 99
  • Stage two (HBP) – 160 / 100

For people who are older (50 & up) that deal with high-blood pressure, should consult their doctor on ways to lower it.

Solutions For It High Blood Pressure

So you know what will be said next, and many do know of certain steps they could take to lower it but the problem is that they are so busy and wrapped up in what goes on in their lives. So right there you have a stress issue that needs to be curved, but there are still other factors that cause problems as well and they are:

  • Lack of physical activities
  • Genetics
  • Excessive Alcohol Intake 
  • Old Age
  • Excessive salt usage
  • Hereditary (traits inherited from parents)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Thyroid / Adrenal disorders

There are techniques that can be applied to find out your blood pressure level, one you saw above in this post earlier which was measuring your heartbeat in a timely fashion in the period of a minute then multiplying that by to come out with your answer. There is yet a few other things that you can apply to measure it accurately, these applied intervals come with timing meaning when to take your measurements like a pro (Doctor) does.

So follow the suggested steps below this line:

  1. Measure your blood before using any blood pressure medications
  2. Take a measure of it between 40 – 60 minutes after during either of the follow 3 activities: SmokingConsuming Caffeine, & Exercising.
  3. In an Examination Room (ER), give yourself time to adjust to the room temperature when taking your pulse.

Now this method that should be considered a “trick” of some sorts (magician rolling up his sleeves), that being said even the magician would have to follow this technique closely to pull it off so here it goes without further adieu.

Cuff Size Blood Measurement (Arm)

IMG_0003[1]This technique my seem a little complicated but not so (if you have the cuff to use in the first place that is, plus doing it and it has to be the precise size )… You first need to be measured according to your height & weight, and to do that the doctor, nurse, or examiner will have to give you the proper size cuff in order for the reading to be “on the money” in terms of accuracy.

The cuff measuring device comes in different sizes for people who are either small or large plus you have the in-betweeneers or middle. Check out the different arm sizes that will have to be applied for precise measurement of the individual’s heartbeat.

  • Circumference of Arm (22 – 26 cm) = Small Adult cuff size (12 X 22 cm)
  • Circumference of Arm (27 – 34 cm) = Adult cuff size (16 X 30 cm)
  • Circumference of Arm (35 – 44 cm) = Large Adult cuff size (16 X 36 cm)
  • Circumference of Arm (45 – 52 cm) = Adult Thigh cuff size (16 X 42cm)

The next part to all of this is get comfortable, sounds a little weird to use this term when going though the procedure of checking your blood but yes this is part of the process. The person should be seated sitting in a relaxed position (the arm must be relaxed very important!) The arm should be uncovered and should be raised at the level of the heart, and the blood pressure cuff should be fastened at heart level as well (do not fastened the cuff to cover the arm completely) the doctor will recommend you to assume a reclined position or standing up on your feet to measure your heart rate.

Taking one blood pressure reading will not be enough, doctors will take more than one to confirm the accurate readings even though the results can differ from multiple readings taken. You will have to make visits back to your doctor so that more readings can be taken which will happen over the course of time, and multiple readings will be needed to get the most accurate result. Psychosis may play it’s part when going to the doctor’s office to take the readings, so don’t be surprised if your first reading is slightly higher than the second.

Lastly, if you notice anything that the doctor, nurse, or physician, that are NOT performing the proper protocol procedure or making mistakes for monitoring your heart beat during  a scheduled session, then you are entitled to ask why. Also when the procedure is in session it should be discussed by the specialists that is conducting it on you (doctor, nurse, etc), they should be able to walk you through the procedure by word of mouth.

And don’t forget to call and tell your doctor whether or not that you have taken any type of medication, eating anything within the last past hour, exercised, or smoked before your visit, that could affect accurately blood pressure readings.
